This position is located in Palmdale, CA. Relocation assistance may be available. A Secret clearance is required to start. Travel is expected at 10% of the time.

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Technical Editor and Writer or Technical Editor and Writer to join our Product Support organization. Responsibilities

• Write, rewrite, and edit technical documents such as procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related publications to communicate technical specifications and instructions clearly.
• Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing production methods, and referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
• Oversee preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.
• Conduct quality reviews of materials.

Requirements

Associate Technical Editor and Writer (A01)

• Completing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026.
• Majoring in or have majored in Engineering, Technical Writing, English, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is required). Program Special access may also be required.
• Final approved U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access may be required to start.

Technical Editor and Writer (A02)

• Completing or have completed a master’s degree from an accredited institution, or completing or have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and have 2 years of related technical editor/writer experience by August 2026.
• Majoring in or have majored in Engineering, Technical Writing, English, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is required). Program Special access may also be required.
• Final approved U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access may be required to start.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written communication skills, including writing, editing, and applying grammar rules with high accuracy.
• Aviation and/or aerospace industry experience.
• Experience interpreting engineering data, including drawings, blueprints, parts lists, notes lists, and technical specifications.
• Experience with configuration management and document control practices.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
• Previous internship, co-op, or work experience; leadership and teamwork capabilities; strong interpersonal communication skills; and involvement in professional, community, or extracurricular activities.

Pay

Associate Technical Editor and Writer (A01): $57,300.00 – $85,900.00

Technical Editor and Writer (A02): $69,000.00 – $103,400.00

Base salary offers consider factors such as scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differentials, discretionary bonuses, annual bonuses tied to individual and company performance, and long-term incentives for Vice President or Director positions.
