2026-27 Tier 2 Paraprofessional

Position Summary

To assist and provide support to the lead teacher in charge of the classroom.

Duties

• Reinforce lessons by tutoring individuals or small groups of students
• Aid in creating and carrying out lesson plans
• Aid in maintaining a safe and appropriate classroom environment
• Supervise children during instructional periods
• Supervise children during non-instructional times including transitions, lunch and recess, arrival and dismissal, and on field trips
• Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean
• Aid in technology-related instructional programs
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions
• Develop a positive rapport with students

Qualification Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Have obtained an associate's degree (or higher)
• Have taken and passed the WorkKeys test, Parapro Test, the Oklahoma General Education Test, or completed 48 hours of collegiate studies at an accredited university

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Aid the classroom teacher with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment
• Conduct learning activities with both large and small groups of children
• Communicate with and work cohesively with the classroom teacher to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
• Absorb the supervision of children during instructional periods
• Oversee students during non-instructional times including transitions, lunch and recess, arrival and dismissal, and on field trips
• Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean
• Aid in technology-related instructional programs
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher to recognize the issues students are facing and recommend solutions
• Develop a positive rapport with students

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Reach with hands and arms
• Talk or hear
• Frequently stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Occasionally lift and/or move up or more than 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to or more than 50 pounds
• Regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles
• Frequent exposure to high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration
• Exposure to noise levels varying from somewhat loud to extremely loud
