Summary

This Secondary Special Education Teacher will work in the Multi-Categorical program at Webber Middle School for the 2026-27 school year.

Job Tasks

  • Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, format, structure, and schedule.

  • Create classroom materials, activities, and lesson plans.

  • Develop Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals, objectives, and transition plans.

  • Schedule staff and meetings in compliance with IEPs.

  • Instruct students in various settings across curriculum to students with a wide range of skills.

  • Organize and facilitate schedules of students and paraprofessionals.

  • Assist in the supervision and direction of special education paraprofessionals.

  • Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity.

  • Supervise the behavior and wellbeing of students in the classroom and all educational settings.

  • Administer discipline when appropriate.

  • Maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.

  • Communicate students' progress and needs with parents/guardians and other staff as needed.

  • Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and other special education providers to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes.

  • Collaborate with outside agencies to promote student success.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in team and building-based meetings and discussions.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to understanding, appreciating, and making accommodations for student diversity.

  • Include and engage families in the student's education.

  • Support all Poudre School District policies, procedures, and expectations.

  • Provide personal and professional excellence.

  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.

  • Participate in department, team, building, IEP/staffing, and district meetings and discussions.

  • Attend student and/or family conferences and other meetings.

  • Participate in social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities.

  • Participate in professional growth opportunities.

Education, Experience, and Licenses Required

  • Bachelor's degree with proper teaching licensure program required.

  • Experience in an educational setting with students with special needs preferred.

  • Criminal background check required for hire.

  • Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) required within 3 months of hire.

  • CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.
