About the role
The role involves supporting students in general education classrooms, including those with 504 Plans or IEPs. Duties include tutoring, assisting with classroom management, and participating in physical education activities.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of a licensed teacher and/or other licensed instructional or nursing staff
- Able to follow daily schedule
- Support all students in the general education classroom
- Maintain student behavior by observing and keeping records
- Tutor students in various subjects
- Prepare, duplicate, and assemble materials for teachers and other professionals
- Assist with checkout and check-in of educational materials and consumables
- Participate in physical education activities with students
- Assist in planning parties and special projects
Requirements
- One of the following: AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree, or two years of post-secondary coursework from an accredited institution of higher education applicable toward a bachelor's degree, or passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment AND a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics
- Basic typing, copying, and computer skills
- Ability to develop good relationships with students and staff
- Ability to relate to students with warmth, friendliness, and understanding
- Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others
- Must be on time to the job every day
- Be physically able to lift more than 40 pounds when applicable
- Able to sit, walk, climb, crouch, kneel, push, talk, and hear
- Trained in Special Education Orientation
- Trained in Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and bus safety training and CPR as required
- Basic first aid, CPR, and bus safety policies and procedures training required for Special Education bus routes

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
This is a 10 month position working 35 hours per week. Pay range for this position is: $20.19 - $25.47 TA1. Maximum hiring step = step four (4).
