About the role
A properly endorsed teacher with a Bachelor's degree or higher, holding a valid teaching license with 120 Ele. Ed. K-6 endorsement and/or other acceptable endorsements as required by MDE and district, is needed to teach K through 5th grade at the elementary level.
Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned class in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the students' maturity and interests.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisor.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Accurately assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Helps students with learning disabilities on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of the district specialists as required by policy and law.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.
