Interim part-time position (0.2 FTE) at Pinnacle High School, immediately through 5/27/2027.

About the role

The Teacher – High School supports the instructional process by developing student success in photography and related academic or skill-based areas. Responsibilities include lesson planning, instruction, assessment, collaboration with staff and parents, and supervision of students in classrooms and other assigned areas.

Responsibilities

  • Administer subject-specific assessments and tests to evaluate student competencies.
  • Advise parents and guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and meet classroom objectives.
  • Counsel students or refer them to appropriate personnel to address performance, health, or personal issues.
  • Demonstrate engaging pedagogical approaches tailored to individual student needs.
  • Differentiate classroom instruction to address individualized learning within established lesson plans.
  • Direct student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, or student workers to support classroom programs.
  • Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
  • Manage student behavior to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitor students in classrooms, on campus, and during field trips to maintain safety and a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in district, staff, and departmental meetings to convey and gather required information.
  • Participate in PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
  • Prepare written materials (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
  • Report health and safety issues to administrators and appropriate agencies to maintain student safety and comply with regulations.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct them to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators to provide information or direction.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a job-related area.
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate certification in the core content area.
  • SEI Endorsement required.
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Criminal background clearance.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Skills: Ability to apply assessment instruments, operate standard office equipment and software, prepare and maintain accurate records, and use curriculum and instructional techniques.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of lesson plan requirements, child development stages, behavioral management strategies, assessment instruments and techniques, and methods of instruction. Ability to perform algebra/geometry, read technical information, compose documents, and facilitate discussions.
  • Abilities: Schedule activities and meetings, gather and classify data, and use job-related equipment. Flexibility to work with diverse individuals and data, adapt to changing priorities, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines. Ability to establish constructive relationships, work as part of a team, and exhibit tact and patience.

Work Environment

  • Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity.
  • Job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing.
  • Performed under some temperature extremes and conditions with exposure to risk of injury or illness.
