About the role

This position assists the classroom teacher with implementing instruction and reinforcing learning skills in various settings. It involves preparing classroom materials, administering tests, grading, taking attendance, completing paperwork, maintaining files, documenting student achievement, and monitoring students.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher with implementing instruction and reinforcing learning skills in one-on-one, small, and/or large student groups.
  • Implement and support the teacher's instruction plan.
  • Auxiliary preparation of classroom materials, administration of tests, grading, taking attendance, completion of paperwork, maintenance of files, and documentation of student achievement.
  • Maintain supervision of students in the classroom and during breaks, lunch, recess, time-outs, on field trips, getting on and off the bus, etc.
  • Reinforce school-wide discipline procedures.
  • Arrive at work and be presentable on time.
  • Support teachers and administration with special projects.
  • Attend relevant in-services, building meetings, training sessions, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, parent conferences, and school functions.
  • Administer state testing (TCAP) in small groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. One year of related experience in a school setting is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. A criminal background check is required for hire.

Qualifications

Experience working with students in a school setting is preferred.

Skills

Ability to assist in classroom management, administer tests, and document student progress.

Pay

$18.35-$20.55/hour (minimum - 12% above minimum), based on qualifications and experience.
