2026-27 Math Teacher

Department: Secondary Instruction – FLSA Exempt – Safety-Sensitive position

About the Role

The teacher will establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students develop academically and socially, while maintaining compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all records and the comprehensive computer database necessary to complete annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
• Teach academic content as designated to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and activities aligned to current state standards.
• Adhere to district and school policies as set forth by district/site handbooks.
• Provide a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful.
• Instruct pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations and procedures of the school district.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Monitor and evaluate pupils' academic and social growth toward goals, make adjustments as needed, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
• Identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and providing interventions/resources for pupils’ health, social-emotional, and academic needs.
• Enhance professional pedagogy through in-service education provided by the district and self-selected professional growth opportunities; set goals for professional growth and seek guidance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Teaching certification recognized by the State of Oklahoma.
• Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

• Regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles.
• Frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions.
• Frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
• Noise level in the work environment varies from somewhat loud to extremely loud.
• To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. Eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
