2026-27 Lecturer Pool Department of Civil Engineering

About the role

The Civil Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science & Construction Management is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-27 academic year. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures
• Create/grade assignments
• Create/grade exams
• Teach undergraduate civil engineering courses
• Lead learning activities and laboratory exercises

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a closely related field)
• Significant relevant professional or teaching experience
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Technical skills appropriate for courses taught
• Ability to teach undergraduate civil engineering courses

Preferred Qualifications

• Work experience in the civil engineering profession
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE), Structural Engineer (SE), or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)

• Out of State Employment: All work must be performed within the State of California.
