2026-27 Head Coach, Women's Tennis - Full Time

About the role

The Athletics Department at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a full-time Head Coach for the Women’s Tennis program for the 2026–2027 academic year. Reporting to the Executive Director of Athletics, the Head Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and competitive success of the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis program competing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis program and independently plan, organize, and evaluate all program activities.
• Develop and implement training programs and assess student-athlete performance.
• Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
• Foster academic success and holistic student development.
• Administer program operations including budgeting, scheduling, team travel, and equipment oversight.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, CSU, and university regulations.
• Supervise assistant and volunteer coaches.
• Represent the Women’s Tennis program through fundraising, alumni engagement, community outreach, and media interactions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience is required.
• Progressively responsible collegiate coaching and/or head coaching experience, including demonstrated success in recruiting, student-athlete development, and competitive program advancement.
• Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA legislation and conference governance.
• Effective communication skills, demonstrated fiscal management experience, the ability to supervise and mentor staff, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and student-centered environment.
• A valid driver’s license and CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or ability to obtain certification upon hire).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior head coaching experience at the NCAA level, with evidence of competitive success and conference or postseason participation.
• A master’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
• Experience in strategic recruiting, fundraising development, alumni engagement, and external relations within a collegiate athletics environment.
• Experience with evening, weekend, holiday, and overnight travel for recruiting and competition.
