About the role

This is a pool posting in anticipation of vacancies for the 2026-27 school year. This posting is not for a current specific position with the Everett Public Schools. Applications will be reviewed as vacancies become available, until then applications will be placed into an applicant pool for Special Education Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Once a position has been confirmed, the Hiring Administrator may hire directly from this pool.

Responsibilities

  • Teach students with developmental delays and moderate to severe cognitive, academic, and adaptive delays
  • Provide communication and/or motor therapies as needed
  • Implement specially designed instruction for students with Specific Learning Disabilities, health impairments, and mild social/emotional behavioral deficits
  • Support students with mild to moderate delays in general intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior
  • Offer transportation services for students in the Extended Resource Program and Life Skills Program
  • Work with students in the Achieve Program to develop behavioral controls and access learning opportunities
  • Provide transition support for students in the Gaining Ownership of Adult Lives (GOAL) and Transitioning Responsibly into Vocational Experiences (STRIVE) programs

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field, along with appropriate certification and experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with developmental delays and moderate to severe cognitive, academic, and adaptive delays
  • Knowledge of communication and/or motor therapies
  • Ability to implement specially designed instruction for students with Specific Learning Disabilities, health impairments, and mild social/emotional behavioral deficits
  • Experience providing transportation services for students in the Extended Resource Program and Life Skills Program
  • Experience working with students in the Achieve Program to develop behavioral controls and access learning opportunities

  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
  • Experience with behavior intervention planning
