Essential Functions

• Affords safe access to and from assigned locations for students.
• Communicates safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff, and visitors.
• Maintains job-related equipment for availability during required times.
• Maintains vigilance over individual and/or groups of students in various settings.
• Maintains vigilance over students entering and exiting school grounds.
• Refers incidents to appropriate site personnel.
• Reports observations and incidents to relevant personnel.
• Responds to inquiries from students and parents regarding campus security issues.
• Responds to a variety of situations involving immediate safety and security concerns.
• Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel.

Other Functions

• Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Skills: Adhering to safety practices, enforcing rules and regulations.
• Knowledge: Understanding written procedures, writing routine documents, speaking clearly, understanding complex, multi-step written and oral instructions, safety practices and procedures, traffic laws.
• Abilities: Scheduling activities, collating data, using basic, job-related equipment, working with a wide diversity of individuals, working with specific, job-related data, utilizing specific, job-related equipment, displaying tact and courtesy, being attentive to detail, maintaining confidentiality.

• Working under direct supervision using standardized routines.
• Providing information and/or advising others.

Work Environment

• Physical Demands: Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity.
• Physical Activities: 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing.
• Risk of Injury and Illness: Exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury and/or illness.
