Essential Responsibilities

• Serve diverse learners (including scholars with disabilities and multilingual learners) through inclusive, grade-level instruction and individualized support.
• Adapt lessons to meet scholars’ individual needs.
• Use exit tickets, unit tests, interim exams, and other assessment data to determine differentiated re-teaching needed to advance all scholars toward demonstrating mastery.
• Collaborate with peers to ensure that all scholars receive the appropriate support, including the accommodations they need to successfully access grade-level content.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

• Believe in the belief that all scholars, regardless of their economic or social demographics, deserve a quality education and can earn a four-year college degree.
• Desire to teach in systemically underserved communities in Los Angeles and be a part of Alliance’s social justice mission by integrating anti-racist, pro-Black, student-centered instruction.
• Demonstrate an ability to develop a positive, achievement-oriented, supportive, and collaborative culture of high expectations that motivates and inspires scholars to learn at college-preparatory levels.
• Know how to use data, technology, and innovative teaching methods to monitor growth and scholar progress, drive classroom learning, and prepare all scholars to succeed in life after high school.
• Hold strong academic content expertise, instructional and classroom management skills, and in-depth knowledge of effective evaluation and assessment techniques to drive scholar learning.
• Thrive in an environment of high expectations and collaboration.
• Hold a growth mindset and commit to continuously honing their teaching craft.
• Have strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with both children and adults.

Minimum Qualifications

• A California teaching credential in the assigned subject area(s) and a valid English Learner Authorization are required.
• For Middle School only: California Multiple Subject or Single Subject Credential with an Introductory Supplementary Authorization in Art.
• A Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants without a credential will be required to provide a copy of their transcript for evaluation to determine eligibility for an emergency teaching permit.

Professional Development

At Alliance, we believe in supporting teacher growth and providing substantial school-based and network-wide professional development support for teachers, including two weeks of professional development for new hires that introduce the Alliance culture and build classroom management and instructional planning skills.

Our close-knit school communities look to teachers to support scholar extracurricular activities and lead school-level decision-making. Teachers interested in growing their leadership skills while remaining in the classroom are invited to join our Emerging Leader Cadre program.

The Teacher of the Year Award provides special recognition and compensation to teachers who demonstrate their dedication inside and beyond the classroom, as well as their exceptional ability to engage scholars and activate their excitement for education.

Compensation

$70,000.00 - $152,500.00
