Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (details)
- Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of tennis
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
Responsibilities
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training
- Develop and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes
- Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
- Provide practice support and advice to ensure team success throughout the sports season
- Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
- Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal
- Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions
Work Environment
- On-site attendance is mandatory
- Evening and weekend work required
Reports to: Athletic Director, with final evaluation in conjunction with high school principals.
