2026-2027 SY - Athletic Coach - Head Baseball

About the role

Athletic Coach – Head Baseball position at Tohatchi High School for the spring sport season. The role requires on‑site attendance, reports to the athletic director (who works with high school principals on objectives and evaluation), and involves supervising assistant and middle school coaches.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success.
• Teach and demonstrate behaviors that promote socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
• Continuously upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
• Work with students interested in sports, providing practice support and advice to help the team succeed against opponents.
• Teach and enforce all sport rules and regulations.
• Advise, coordinate, and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principals.
• Work includes evenings and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Must hold or be able to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7‑12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org).
• Internal applicants must attach a signed Permission to Coach Form to the application.

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major sports).
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and a commitment to examine new theories and procedures.
• Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.

Pay

Fixed salary of $8,250.00 (minimum and maximum salary both listed as $8,250.00).

Schedule

Spring sport season; on‑site attendance is mandatory; work regularly includes evenings and weekends.
