School Psychologist Job Description
The School Psychologist supports Robertson County Schools by providing comprehensive psychological services that promote students' academic achievement, social-emotional development, and behavioral success. The position ensures compliance with federal and state regulations (IDEA, Section 504, and Tennessee Department of Education guidelines) while collaborating with school teams to deliver evidence-based interventions and supports.
Essential Functions
- Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for initial eligibility and re-evaluations in accordance with IDEA timelines and procedures
- Interpret assessment data and develop written evaluation reports with clear, educationally relevant recommendations
- Participate as an active member of the IEP Team, including eligibility determination, IEP development, and manifestation determinations
- Provide consultation to teachers, administrators, and families regarding instructional strategies, behavior supports, and mental health needs
- Auxiliary with the development and implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Support schools in implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS/RTI²) for academic and behavioral interventions
- Collaborate with staff to ensure appropriate accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction (SDI) are aligned to student needs
- Provide crisis intervention services, including risk assessments and response planning as needed
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with FERPA and district policies
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education procedures and timelines
- Participate in Child Find activities and assist with early identification of students with disabilities
- Provide professional development and training to staff on topics such as behavior supports, assessment interpretation, and mental health awareness
- Collaborate with outside agencies, community providers, and district personnel to coordinate services for students
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Tennessee special education regulations
- Strong skills in administering and interpreting a variety of psychological and educational assessments
- Ability to analyze data and make instructional and programmatic recommendations
- Effective communication skills with diverse stakeholders (students, staff, families, and outside agencies)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Skill in problem-solving and developing intervention plans
- Ability to manage timelines, caseloads, and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities
- Work under the general supervision of the Special Education Supervisor and/or School Principal
- Cookordination with teachers, related service providers, and administrators to support student outcomes
- Ensure documentation and evaluation practices meet legal and district standards
- Participation in district and school-level meetings, committees, and professional learning
Education and Experience
- Specialist-level degree (Ed.S.) or higher in School Psychology from an accredited program
- Supervised internship in school psychology
Certificates and Licenses
- Valid Tennessee School Psychologist license issued by the Tennessee Department of Education
- Compliance with all district-required clearances (background check, fingerprinting)
Working Conditions
- Frequent movement between school sites

Physical Requirements
