Certification Area: School Counselor/Guidance—Secondary

About the role

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive school counseling services to students, families, and staff. This includes individual and group counseling, classroom guidance lessons, and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students based on identified needs
• Develop and implement classroom guidance lessons aligned with state standards
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success
• Assist in developing and maintaining a safe and supportive school environment
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements

• Masters degree in School Counseling or closely related field from an accredited institution
• Valid South Carolina School Counselor Certification
• Experience working with adolescents and families
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• Knowledge of adolescent development and effective counseling techniques
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations
• Strong organizational and time management skills

Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with data management systems
