About the role

The Special Education Generalist Self-contained position is responsible for providing instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting. This includes planning and delivering lessons aligned with state standards, assessing student progress, and collaborating with other professionals to support student needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver inclusive lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
• Absorb and implement new educational strategies and technologies as needed.
• Collaborate with special education teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Assess student progress through various methods and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid Missouri teaching certificate in Special Education.
• At least two years of successful teaching experience in a self-contained classroom setting.
• Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to special education.
• Proficiency in using technology tools for lesson planning and assessment.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
