Location: Robert E. Lake Elementary School, Las Vegas

About the Role

This is a full-time Special Education Generalist position in a self-contained elementary school classroom.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for students with disabilities in a self-contained setting.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, administrators, and related service providers.
• Assess student progress through formal and informal methods, and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior support strategies and interventions.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure students with disabilities access the general curriculum as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and IEP goals.
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other school-related meetings as required.
• Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education services.

Requirements

• Valid Nevada Department of Education license with an endorsement in Special Education (Generalist or equivalent).
• Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities in a self-contained or inclusive setting.
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of special education.
