About the role

The Intervention Teacher works closely with small groups of scholars, typically 3–8 students, to provide targeted academic support and accelerate progress toward grade-level proficiency. This role is ideal for an educator who is skilled in differentiated instruction, data-driven planning, progress monitoring, and relationship-building with scholars, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, targeted instruction to small groups of scholars needing additional academic support
  • Plan and implement meaningful intervention strategies that support accelerated learning growth
  • Differentiate instruction based on individual scholar needs and performance data
  • Monitor scholar progress regularly and adjust instructional plans accordingly
  • Analyze academic data to evaluate student growth and inform next steps
  • Collaborate actively with grade-level teams and instructional staff
  • Serve as a flexible member of the school community, including guest teaching when needed
  • Build strong, positive relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues
  • Support a classroom and school culture grounded in restorative practices and social-emotional learning
  • Demonstrate respect for diverse identities, perspectives, and experiences
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned in support of scholar success

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience, ideally in an urban school setting
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Substitute License required
