About the role
The position is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction at a large public high school.
Responsibilities
- To develop student athletes to their maximum potential, athletically and academically.
- To demonstrate high ideals, good habits and attitudes and demand the same of the player.
- To cooperate with the principal and athletic director in the planning, scheduling and the general conduct of activities assigned.
- To properly supervise assistant coaches by outlining team goals, strategies, objectives and tasks to be performed.
- To submit annually a budget to the athletic director prior to the conclusion of the school year.
- To inventory annually, all equipment, supplies and materials and submit shortages and needs to the athletic director prior to the conclusion of the school year.
- To communicate concerns or problems to the principal on any matters, not specifically covered by this job description.
- To properly supervise student athletes under his/her immediate supervision and insure preventative measures are taken to prevent injuries, and swift and immediate care is given in case of injuries.
- To keep abreast of all NCAA rules/regulations relative to visitations, recruitment and grades of student athletics.
- To perform other duties/responsibilities deemed necessary.

- Abilit to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrates skills through personal participation or prior coaching experience in the sport assigned.
- Skillful working with students and staff in an athletic environment.
- Avert problem situations and intervenes to resolve conflicts.
- Exercises self-control and perseverance when dealing with students.
- Completes paperwork timely and accurately.
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
- Skillful in working with students and staff in an athletic environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required.
- Experience: Demonstrates skills through personal participation or prior coaching experience in sport assigned.
