About the Role

This is a full-time elementary school teaching position at John F. Mendoza Elementary School. The role is classified as a Day Job under Title I for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Prepare classroom for class activities and maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
• Provide appropriate feedback on work and encourage student progress.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
• Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
• Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources, and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
• Collaborate with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning and student engagement.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom and on school premises, applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehavior.
• Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations.

Requirements

• Valid Nevada teaching license with an endorsement in Elementary Education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of elementary education curriculum and standards.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to pass a background check and provide required documentation (e.g., transcripts, certifications).
