About the Role
This position involves preparing and serving food while adhering to USDA and sanitation regulations for the school nutrition service program. The food service worker must have a genuine desire to serve students and staff as valuable customers.
Responsibilities
- Follow all USDA and sanitation regulations relevant to the school nutrition service program.
- Prepare, serve, and clean all food items and equipment as instructed by the Manager and/or Director.
- Complete cleaning logs, production records, and temperature logs.
- Learn and use the food service computer system.
- Attend in-service meetings, workshops, and trainings as scheduled by the Director.
- Provide excellent customer service to staff, students, and other customers.
- Prepare food and work special functions as assigned by the Director.
- Report unsafe equipment or work hazards to the Manager.
- Assist with the implementation of the HACCP plan.
- Perform functions of other nutrition services positions to ensure daily completion of tasks.
- If assigned to cashier tasks, ensure student meals are correctly entered into the POS system as reimbursable or non-reimbursable.
Requirements
- Hold a high school diploma or GED.

Salary and benefits are to be determined by the school board. The food service worker will be evaluated by the administrator at least annually in accordance with law, board policy, and the job description.
