About the role
Full-time, 10-month (200-day) exempt position reporting to the school principal.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver an instructional program aligned with district goals and objectives.
- Promote a safe, engaging classroom environment and manage student behavior.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; translate plans into learning experiences.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instruction to meet individual needs.
- Stay current with educational developments through seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or research.
- Maintain accurate records for student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
- Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Manage learner behavior to maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local education laws, policies, and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in the appropriate subject area.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction.
- Demonstrated ability in decision-making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, and planning.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to self-evaluation and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Working Conditions
- Primarily performed in a school/classroom environment; occasional field trips.
- Moderate noise level.
- Physical demands include sitting and standing for extended periods, manual dexterity for computer/data entry, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to see, read, hear, and speak clearly in classroom and telephone settings, with or without accommodations.
