Full-time, exempt position for the 2026-2027 school year, 8 AM to 4 PM. Reports to the School Principal.

About the Role

The teacher will develop lesson plans to meet each student's individual needs, interests, and abilities, design a safe and healthy classroom, instruct students, create lesson plans, assign and grade homework, manage students, communicate with families, and help students grow in their faith.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits enthusiasm for learning and fosters students' academic abilities.
  • Actively supervises students in hallways before, after, and between classes, in the cafeteria, in bus areas, and at special events, ensuring safety and security. Rotates with staff on student arrival and dismissal.
  • Provides academic subject instruction by preparing lesson plans, activities, projects, and assignments.
  • Evaluates student performances in class and on tests and provides feedback. Maintains fair, accurate, and timely grading policies, procedures, and attendance. Grades papers, assignments, and assessments promptly and accurately.
  • Maintains and engages in professional growth, adheres to professional standards, and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership. Cooperates and collaborates with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Identifies materials needed to implement class activities and projects.
  • Communicates with students and parents regularly about schedules, assignments, events, and individual student needs. Meets with parents during parent-teacher conferences. Regularly checks email and updates web pages as required.
  • Motivates students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge to provide an effective educational foundation.
  • Organizes daily class time so instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time; develops weekly lessons with appropriate instructional materials; provides detailed instructions for substitute teachers.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, current educational research, and technological tools to address student learning styles and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Develops and updates the classroom curriculum.
  • Evaluates each student's progress; keeps appropriate records; prepares, administers, scores, and records test results; prepares progress reports and report cards.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters, including social media and online platforms. Follows all Diocese of Allentown policies as per the teacher's handbook.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate student supervision to ensure a safe, orderly, effective, and productive environment. Upholds school discipline procedures.
  • Maintains an orderly classroom stocked with appropriate supplies.
  • Supervises and manages students' behavior in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, etc., to foster a positive and healthy learning environment.
  • Attends all required in-service training meetings and workshops, and participates in faculty meetings.
  • Actively participates in the school community by attending school events, activities, and fundraisers.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent.
  • PA teaching certification preferred.
  • Must communicate effectively with parents, students, and co-workers in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
  • Understanding of child development and skills necessary to relate to students.
  • Understanding of supervision of employees and communication skills necessary to relate to adult employees and volunteers.
  • Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
  • High energy level and ability to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations.
  • High level of confidentiality, credibility, integrity, and self-confidence.
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check (no less than 1 year old).
  • Completion of online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and stoop.
  • Must be able to talk and hear, both in person and by telephone.
  • Use of hands to perform standard classroom duties and use office equipment.
  • Reaching and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Vocal communication required for expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word.
  • Hearing required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing surroundings and activities.

Schedule

Full-time, contracted position for the 2026-2027 school year, 8 AM to 4 PM. May be required to assist with special duties and work outside the normal school day to attend school-related events.
