Position Overview

As a teacher’s assistant at GCS, you will help deliver instruction that engages students, encourages critical thinking, and integrates a Biblical worldview into every aspect of learning. You will work closely with the teacher to ensure that each child is known, supported, and challenged to reach their God-given potential.

Requirements

  • Possess an undergraduate degree in the subject area or an education degree with an emphasis on the subject being taught.
  • Demonstrate ability to teach or have appropriate teaching experience.
  • A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Affirm that he/she is passionate about the intellectual and moral formation of students and Christian Education as a professional, understands that teaching at GCS is a Christian ministry position, and believes that this profession and their role as a teacher are a good use of time and talent to honor the Lord Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher with any activities as needed, such as: helping students in the restrooms, supervising/assisting students during snack and lunch, supervising dismissal procedures, cleaning tables, toys, etc. in the classroom, any other items as requested by the supervising teacher.
  • Be informed and aware of the academic, spiritual, and social development of each of the students.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled departmental meetings and general faculty meetings.
  • Integrate Biblical principles throughout the instructional program, with the supervising teacher’s approval.
  • Keep proper discipline in the classroom for a good teaching environment.
  • Maintain open and helpful communications with his/her students’ parents.
  • Supervise student activities as assigned by the teacher.
  • Strive to hold students to the standard of helping them reach their God-given potential.
  • Demonstrate commitment as a team player, positive interpersonal relationships with parents, students, and peers.
  • Encourage critical thinking skills through questioning strategies.
