About the role
Supervises students participating in a particular sport.
Reports to the Head Coach in conjunction with the Athletic Director and Building Administrator.
Responsibilities
- Possesses overall knowledge of the sport he/she is coaching
- Possesses the ability to motivate players
- Conducts himself/herself so as to be above reproach at all times
- Thoroughly prepares for practice/game sessions
- Improves coaching techniques
- Provides input and suggestions in planning practice schedules and game plans each week
- Show enthusiasm, pride, and hard work during in-season/off-season sessions
- Is fair, understanding, tolerant, sympathetic, and patient with team members
- Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to his/her coaching assignments
- Maintains rapport with the coaching staff and players
- Willing to give time and efforts during the off-season
- Maintains suitable conduct toward players and officials at practice and games
- Appropriately dresses for practice and at games
- Shows support for all athletic programs and school-sponsored student activities
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as the principal and/or athletic director may assign
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
- Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
Requirements
Proper certification by the State Department of Education
Other qualifications as may be set by the administration

Overall knowledge of the sport
