Position Summary

To assist the teacher in achieving identified instructional goals

Job Function And Responsibilities

• Assists in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of teachers
• Assists in the implementation of Individualized Education Plans and related data collection
• Assists with accommodation of learning environment and materials
• Assists with implementation of behavior management plans including data collection
• Provides personal care assistance
• Collaborates with all professionals including teachers, counselor, speech therapist, social worker, occupational therapist, and physical therapist
• Aids classroom teachers in maintaining student records
• Supports students with emotional or behavior concerns and assists them in developing appropriate social skills
• Affords assistance with extra duties related to the supervision of students – lunch periods, assemblies, field trips, etc.
• Guides independent study, practice work, and corrective instruction directed by the teacher, collecting appropriate data throughout the process
• Affords assistance with preparation of instructional materials for classroom use
• Affords assistance with individual and small group remediation and instructional support
• Maintains confidentiality of student information
