Position Overview North Shore School District 112 is seeking compassionate, dedicated Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with diverse learning needs. Paraprofessionals work under the supervision of certified staff to provide academic, behavioral, and functional support that enables students to access learning and fully participate in their school community. This role is ideal for individuals who are student-centered, collaborative, and committed to inclusive practices and continuous growth. Job Summary The Special Education Paraprofessional primarily supports students with identified needs in areas that may include academics, functional skills, behavior, and/or physical assistance. Working closely with classroom teachers and related service providers, paraprofessionals play a critical role in supporting student growth, independence, and belonging. Key Responsibilities Under the direction of certified staff, responsibilities include: Supporting academic, behavioral, and functional skill development in whole-class, small-group, and individual settingsImplementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelityCollecting and documenting student progress using evidence-based data collection methodsSupporting students in general education and inclusive environmentsProviding supervision during arrival, dismissal, transitions, and other designated timesParticipating in ongoing progress reviews, as appropriateSupporting the use of assistive technology and instructional materialsSupporting non-violent crisis intervention strategies (CPI) when necessaryEngaging in ongoing professional learning to strengthen instructional and support practicesCollaborating with teachers, specialists, administrators, and families to ensure a cohesive, student-centered experienceAddressing student, staff, and parent concerns in a professional and constructive mannerPerforming other duties as assigned by an administrator Qualifications Valid Illinois Paraprofessional or Substitute License requiredPositive, flexible, and student-focused mindsetStrong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skillsProfessional demeanor and inclusive, respectful languageAbility to serve as a positive role model for childrenComfort using technology and willingness to learn new toolsAbility to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Compensation & Benefits Hourly Rate: $22.50–$24.77 (based on skills and experience)Workday: 7-hour paid dayBenefits Include:Excellent benefits packageIMRF Retirement Pension Service CreditPaid sick, personal, and bereavement leaveAdditional benefits as outlined in the North Shore Support Staff Association Contract Application Process Apply online by completing the application and uploading the required supporting materials.
