ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies, develops, and implements programs, policies, and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally.
- Affirms adherence to all safety rules to achieve safety objectives.
- Ensures all employees are properly trained on safety rules, including safe working habits, proper machine operation, and maintenance.
- Conducts routine housekeeping and safety inspections throughout the plant.
- Incentivizes employees to suggest ways to improve plant safety.
- Enforces safety and housekeeping rules and utilizes disciplinary action as necessary.
- Supports the implementation of plant safety policy in alignment with corporate safety objectives.
- Serves as a mentor to Department Managers and provides the finest safety training available.
- Maintains high Pella Quality standards for the plant by assisting in the development of training tools and plant procedures.
- Educates employees about the quality of Pella products through instruction and development of training tools.
- Informs employees of problems found in audits and/or inspections.
- Develops and administers orientation training programs for Department Managers.
- Trains Department Managers in personnel policy, coaching and counseling skills, continuous improvement techniques, and other pertinent subjects.
- Promotes team building techniques that foster continuous improvement.
- Supports the identification, development, and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures that support customer satisfaction, quality, cost reduction, customer service, waste reduction, and material yield.
- Works to maximize material yield for the plant and Pella Corporation.
- Trains all employees on the importance of material yield in the profit equation.
- Assists in annual plant budgeting and strategic planning to drive cost productivity.
- Trains all employees on the importance of reducing manufacturing costs in a corporately responsible manner.
- Supports the identification, development, and implementation of projects and teams that support continuous improvement objectives.
- Trains teams actively pursuing projects on follow-up techniques to maintain improvements.
- Assists Plant Managers in Department Manager selection through participation in the interviewing process.
- Evaluates performance and implements development plans for subordinate Department Managers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages 6-12 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 20-40 employees in the plant.
- Directs, coordinates, and evaluates the work of this unit.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
