1st shift operations supervisor
About the Role
Villari Foods is seeking a 1st-shift Production Supervisor for our production plant. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to quality products.
Responsibilities
- Work with USDA and QA inspectors to ensure food safety and quality.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain staffing levels, foster positive employee relations, ensure employee safety, and adhere to policies, practices, and employment/labor law compliance.
- Follow specifications for operating and maintaining equipment.
- Ensure proper shift startup and end-of-shift breakdown/cleanup.
- Train workers in the safe, productive, and efficient operation of equipment.
- Manage associate performance through training, coaching, and counseling.
- Plan and direct associates in performing GMPs, SSOPs, and CCPs for production areas.
- Manage the proper flow of production, including throughputs, yields, and movements of raw and finished goods to appropriate processing and storage locations.
- Track costs and standards attainment in assigned areas and ensure quality and accuracy of production-related data in the Carlisle system.
- Drive adherence to good inventory management practices for production materials and finished goods.
- Manage cost savings, safety, and operations initiatives as assigned by the Director of Operations.
- Interact with maintenance to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
- Ensure a safe work environment through proactive safety inspections, PPE compliance, training, accident investigation, and hazard correction.
- Effectively communicate across shifts in verbal and written form.
- Must be trained in HACCP and SQF protocol.
- Perform all other tasks assigned by management and shift superintendent.
Requirements
- Maintain a professional manner in appearance and communications.
- Develop PC skills, including email, reports, and Carlisle system interactions.
- Capable of following verbal and written instructions.
- Available to work various shifts.
- Capable of sitting and/or standing for extended periods.
- Understand and follow company policy as stated in the employee handbook.
Qualifications
- High School Degree preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- PC, leadership, and planning skills.
- Experience with Enterprise systems, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
- Experience with production paperwork preferred.
Physical Demands
- Capable of standing and walking significant amounts during the shift.
- Work longer hours as needed to satisfy customer and daily/seasonal requirements.
- Able to sit, walk, and stand.
- Able to speak and hear for safety and productivity.
- Able to use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment.
- Able to reach with hands and arms.
