Shift: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday – Friday
Responsibilities
- Read and process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining operations, dimensional specifications, setup, and operating requirements.
- Identify, select, and install proper tooling for the operations being performed.
- Calculate appropriate feeds and speeds for a variety of steel grades, copper, brass, aluminum, and bronze.
- Intuitively understand the capabilities of tooling and machinery.
- Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce setup times and improve productivity.
- Set up all necessary measuring equipment and routinely check the calibration of the equipment while measuring.
- Work with various machinery and metalworking materials in a machine‑shop environment, including cutting fluids, lubricants, and metal shavings.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Prior experience with precision inspection equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges).
- One‑year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances of less than 0.001 in.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and to taste or smell.
- Frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Material hazards: regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Work Environment & Safety
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel‑toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves.
- Must adhere to all safety procedures and company safety policies.
- Employees are expected to follow any additional job‑related instructions from the Supervisor and perform any other duties as requested.
