About the role
The Laser Marking Operator I operates laser marking machines to mark instruments according to customer prints and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Start up and shut down laser marking machines.
- Follow program notes to build and install fixturing.
- Maintain proper line clearance for each job.
- Complete jobs per standard procedures.
- Perform 100% visual inspection of markings on each piece.
- Measure dimensions using proper equipment (e.g., caliper, optical comparator, gauging) and adjust as needed to confirm the program is correct.
- Confirm proper focus to achieve desired markings.
- Initial, date, and confirm piece count is correct.
- Work independently while maintaining productivity and quality.
- Read and interpret prints.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills
- Ability to read blueprints (Level 2) and use measurement tools (Level 1) preferred.
- Math aptitude with the ability to add and subtract decimals.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office knowledge, preferred.
- Drawing Editor software experience (Level 2) preferred.
- Working knowledge of inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, comparators) preferred.
Work Environment
The role involves standing, frequent walking, and use of hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee may need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
