Hourly position in Toccoa, Production department, reporting to the Mill Supervisor.

About the role

Perform the production process to optimize resource use and meet or exceed plant goals and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and operate Cross Cut Saw to meet or exceed production goals
  • Produce quality products and perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Work independently while leading the stacking process
  • Follow all safety, quality, production, materials, and plant policies and procedures
  • Support the company’s mission and vision through daily tasks and behavior
  • Complete all required training for operation of assigned area
  • Work assigned schedule and shift hours to meet customer requirements
  • Operate computer software necessary for assigned area
  • Train new or back-up operators using certified peer trainer tools and techniques
  • Maintain daily 5S/clean-up expectations for assigned area
  • Participate in Kaizen, TPM, and cross-functional team events as requested
  • Cross-train in other machine centers as requested
  • Learn Factory Floor System and create tickets for pallets
  • Apply basic mathematical concepts, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Participate in Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) activities and teams
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; in lieu of education, extensive knowledge of all processes associated with the respective team may be considered
  • Manufacturing or work experience and willingness to learn required positions
  • Record of successful team support, meeting work performance expectations, and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Experience performing duties in a team environment committed to positive performance and SQDC goal achievement
  • Demonstrated behavior supporting company core values and CITE principles
  • Excellent communication skills; knowledge of Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business documents such as packing lists, manifests, bills of lading, pallet tickets, or job orders
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers and customers to respond to inquiries or complaints
  • Use basic mathematical concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) for tasks such as inventory control, material ordering, and job order verification
  • Perceive problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret assorted tasks or instructions

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to see, hear, crouch, use stairs, stand, bend, reach, and walk for the entirety of the shift
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

Working Conditions

  • Indoor and outdoor manufacturing environment
  • Moderate to high noise levels requiring hearing protection
  • Safety protection (glasses, hearing, and gloves) required
  • Overtime required per policy as production demands
