1st shift Blast Chill Food Safety Specialist
Position Summary
The Blast Chill Food Safety Specialist facilitates the proper chilling of cooked products through Cryo-cabinet and Blast Chiller within HACCP timelines and regulations. This role involves coordinating and moving prepared food into and out of the Cryo-cabinet & Blast Chiller, staging it for the Pack Room, labeling it, and ensuring allergens are marked.
Position Responsibilities
- Facilitate the proper chilling of cooked products through Cryo-cabinet (when appropriate) and through the Blast Chiller within HACCP timelines and regulations.
- Use digital thermometers to repeatedly check food in Blast Chiller; stir, move trays and carts, etc. to ensure food temps out within allotted time frame.
- Document temperatures and weights.
- Correctly weigh and label all finished product leaving Blast Chill.
- Move product to RTE and determine if food will remain on tray or placed in totes.
- Ensure all carts and totes are properly bagged and covered, and create and place labels with comps, sub-comps, dates, and allergens on them.
- Work with RTE Runners to organize and stage food for Pack Room.
- Use all required safety equipment and procedures, and consistently follow all food-related safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Take initiative to assist with general cleaning tasks in the work area.
- Consistently follow all food-related sanitation and operating safety guidelines including use of proper safety equipment.
- Maintain clean, sanitary and orderly work area and assist with general cleaning tasks in the work area as appropriate.
- Confer with Quality Assurance as needed.
Required Skills And Experience
- A high school diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years old.
- Able to stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours.
- Able to work in varying temperatures between 20-70 degrees.
- Basic math skills including ability to read weight & measurement (pounds, ounces etc.).
- Previous experience working on a line in a production environment is preferred but not required.
Preferred Skills And Experience
- A strong service orientation.
- Able to work independently with little supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently is required to stand, talk, and listen.
- Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to perform repetitive movements.
- Able to work in variable temperatures.
