About the role
Mueller Company, a subsidiary of Mueller Water Products (NYSE: MWA), is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for water and gas distribution. The Cleveland, TN location is growing and has an opening for a Production Assembler I to support operational training needs and various analysis projects.
Responsibilities
- Implement training programs that connect employees with business goals
- Work safely in the manufacturing production environment
- Follow detailed verbal/written assembly instructions, processes, and procedures
- Read and understand customer work orders and assembly instructions
- Prepare and assemble materials and parts in a manufacturing production environment
- Move, process, and organize materials and manufactured products
- Operate hand power tools, presses, mills, lathes, drills, lifts, and control equipment efficiently and safely
- Perform quality control checks and verification of work order specifications
- Properly fill out basic forms, reports, and label products correctly
- Communicate and work effectively with others
- Provide hands-on and verbal job function training to coworkers as needed
- Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to Production Supervisor
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
- Support other departments and areas as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of Assembly or Machine Operation experience in a manufacturing/warehouse setting
- Good written and oral communication skills
Physical requirements
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm's length, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision
- Ability to use power tools, air tools, and other vibratory tools
- Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods
- Ability to work around hot heavy machinery
- Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold)
- Ability to function in a high-pressure production environment
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with CNC machines (plus, not required)
- Welding experience (plus, not required)
- Forklift experience (plus, not required)
