About the role

Mueller Company, a subsidiary of Mueller Water Products (NYSE: MWA), is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for water and gas distribution. The Cleveland, TN location is growing and has an opening for a Production Assembler I to support operational training needs and various analysis projects.

Responsibilities

  • Implement training programs that connect employees with business goals
  • Work safely in the manufacturing production environment
  • Follow detailed verbal/written assembly instructions, processes, and procedures
  • Read and understand customer work orders and assembly instructions
  • Prepare and assemble materials and parts in a manufacturing production environment
  • Move, process, and organize materials and manufactured products
  • Operate hand power tools, presses, mills, lathes, drills, lifts, and control equipment efficiently and safely
  • Perform quality control checks and verification of work order specifications
  • Properly fill out basic forms, reports, and label products correctly
  • Communicate and work effectively with others
  • Provide hands-on and verbal job function training to coworkers as needed
  • Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to Production Supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
  • Support other departments and areas as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of Assembly or Machine Operation experience in a manufacturing/warehouse setting
  • Good written and oral communication skills

Physical requirements

  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm's length, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision
  • Ability to use power tools, air tools, and other vibratory tools
  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods
  • Ability to work around hot heavy machinery
  • Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold)
  • Ability to function in a high-pressure production environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with CNC machines (plus, not required)
  • Welding experience (plus, not required)
  • Forklift experience (plus, not required)
