Location: Great Hearts Monte Vista South • Reports To: Headmaster • FLSA Status: Salaried‑Exempt

About the Role

We are looking for life‑long learners passionate about shaping students' hearts and minds. Great Hearts Academies is a growing network of 49 public, open‑enrollment, tuition‑free classical schools serving over 30,000 K‑12 students in Arizona, Louisiana, and Texas. The school’s highest goal is to become good, intellectually and morally, through a classical liberal arts education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned K‑5 classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
  • Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home‑school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
  • Utilize curricular elements such as Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, and rich content in History, Science, and Literature.
  • Collaborate with an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher who supports classroom instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is required for a lead teaching role; all majors are welcome.
  • Certification is not required for general education positions.
  • U.S. work authorization is required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal‑history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
  • May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
