Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate and dedicated 1st Grade Teacher to join our team at the AMS Power Campus in Mesa for the 2026–2027 school year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Arizona academic standards.
  • Strengthen foundational skills in reading fluency, phonics, writing, and early mathematics.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to guide instructional planning.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students at varying skill levels.
  • Foster independent learning habits and critical thinking skills.

Classroom Culture & Student Development

  • Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment with clear expectations.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Participate in weekly professional development and PLCs.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instruction.
  • Contribute to school-wide improvement initiatives.

Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home–school partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or Elementary Education OR Valid Arizona teaching certification in Elementary Education OR Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience
  • Additionally, Candidates Must Demonstrate strong classroom management and instructional planning skills Obtain an IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card Demonstrate a commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative
