About the Role

The Educator supports the instructional process by supervising students, developing and delivering lesson plans, collaborating with staff and parents, and addressing a wide range of inquiries regarding student progress and the instructional program.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
• Administers developmental testing programs and subject-specific assessments to assess student competency levels and develop individual learning plans.
• Advises parents and legal guardians of student progress, communicating expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
• Assesses student progress toward objectives and goals, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives.
• Counsels students to improve performance, health status, problem-solving techniques, and personal issues.
• Demonstrates methods required for classroom and subject-specific assignments to provide an effective program addressing individual student needs.
• Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to ensure an effective classroom program.
• Facilitates student learning to achieve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson plans.
• Instructs students to improve their success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
• Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Models conversation, manners, clean-up activities, and listening skills to demonstrate appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
• Monitors students in various educational environments (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips) to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
• Organizes age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student participation in learning activities.
• Participates in meetings to convey and gather information required to perform functions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
• Prepares written materials (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
• Reports incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse) to maintain student safety and adhere to policies.
• Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators to provide information and direction.
• Supports classroom teachers in implementing established curriculum and individual student plans.
• Operates standard office equipment, classroom materials, and playground equipment to provide an effective education program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required).
• Master’s degree (preferred).
• Professional Educators License (PEL) with designated subject matter endorsement.
• Job-related experience (preferred but not required).

Physical Demands

• Physical activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
• Lifting demands: Up to 35 pounds.
• Reaching activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
• Environmental conditions: Moderate noise intensity.

Pay

Minimum starting salary for the 2026-2027 school year:

• With Bachelor’s degree: $56,920 (includes District-paid TRS pension), pro-rated to start date.
• With Master’s degree: $62,042 (includes District-paid TRS pension), pro-rated to start date.
