About the role
Under the direction of the department supervisor, the Electro Galvanizer is responsible for coating metal parts to enhance corrosion protection and/or abrasion resistance.
Responsibilities
- Plan processes and operation sequence to complete metal plating.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or specifications to determine required voltage and amperage.
- Immerse metal parts in acid tanks to clean them.
- Immerse metal parts in chemical tanks and monitor the parts.
- Perform visual inspection of plated parts using inspection tools to ensure uniform plating across all surface areas.
- Place parts on racks before and after plating.
- Record data in the computer for completed parts and processes.
- Comply with safety standards.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate, read, and understand English.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and purchase orders.
- Ability to follow instructions, specifications, and plating procedures.
- Knowledge of using gauges, micrometers, and dial calipers.
- Experience with procedures for operating acid tanks and plating equipment.
- Strong attention to detail to identify issues with parts.
- Ability to use a computer for data entry.
- Must be a U.S. person (citizen or permanent resident) due to ITAR regulations.
Physical demands
- Walking/standing for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Exposure to heat, noise, and chemical fumes in production areas.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
