Piper Companies is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join a leading technology-focused organization in the Research Triangle Park area. The Cloud Security Engineer will be responsible for securing multi-cloud environments across AWS and Azure, implementing cloud-native security controls, and collaborating with infrastructure and engineering teams to strengthen the organization's security posture. This role is ideal for a security professional with hands-on experience in cloud security tools, governance, and threat detection within enterprise cloud environments. Responsibilities of the Cloud Security Engineer: Design, implement, and maintain security controls across AWS and Azure cloud environments. Monitor cloud infrastructure for security threats, vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps using cloud-native and third-party security tools. Partner with engineering and DevOps teams to integrate security best practices throughout the SDLC. Conduct cloud security assessments, risk analyses, and vulnerability management activities. Implement identity and access management (IAM) controls, security policies, and governance frameworks. Support incident response efforts related to cloud-based security events and investigations. Develop and maintain security documentation, standards, and procedures for cloud platforms. Assist with regulatory compliance initiatives and cloud security audits. Qualifications of the Cloud Security Engineer: 4+ years of experience in cybersecurity, cloud security, or information security engineering. Hands-on experience securing both AWS and Azure environments. Experience with cloud security platforms and tools such as Prisma Cloud, Wiz, Lacework, CrowdStrike, Defender for Cloud, Security Hub, or similar technologies. Strong understanding of IAM, network security, encryption, and cloud governance principles. Experience with vulnerability management, SIEM platforms, and security monitoring solutions. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and security best practices including NIST, CIS, and ISO 27001. Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Relevant cloud or security certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500), CISSP, CCSP, or Security+ are highly preferred. Compensation for the Cloud Security Engineer includes: Salary range: $130,000 - $150,000 depending on experience Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO Hybrid work schedule in the RTP, NC area This job opens for applications on 09/14/2026.
