About the role
The Machinist 1 is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
Responsibilities
- Performs proper set-up and running of conventional lathe machine ensuring the use of tooling associated with machine.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, specification to ensure correct specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Performs turning and threading material.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Follows all safety procedures and wears appropriate PPE.
- Adheres to local, state, and federal regulations regarding facility maintenance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 1 year conventional lathe experience.
- Knowledge and experience setting-up and running conventional lathe machines.
- Knowledge of performing shop mathematics associated with machining.
- Knowledge and familiarity with hand tools and precision instruments (i.e. micrometer, calipers, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
- Possesses good organizational skills and attention to detail.
