About the role

Sigma Defense is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Army's Network Modernization & Mission Network Technical Service Support program (NetMod).

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA)
  • Select appropriate materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances for mechanical designs
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures to validate the performance and reliability of mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during development, testing, and production phases
  • Collaborate effectively with electrical, software, and other engineering disciplines to integrate mechanical systems
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards, technologies, and best practices
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for design processes and methodologies

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years in the Department of Defense contracting market of major weapon systems product development and acquisitions is preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design and analysis, preferably with a focus on electronic systems
  • Proficiency in using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for design and documentation
  • Familiarity with TEMPEST requirements or other security-related design considerations
  • Understanding of cable management best practices for secure environments
  • Experience designing mechanical solutions for military, aerospace, or other harsh environment applications
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
  • Formal education may be waived on a case by case basis depending on certification and relevant work/military experience

Skills

  • Proficiency in using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA)
  • Familiarity with TEMPEST requirements or other security-related design considerations
  • Understanding of cable management best practices for secure environments
  • Experience designing mechanical solutions for military, aerospace, or other harsh environment applications
