About the Role

As an AH-64D Armament/Electrical/Avionics Systems Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will maintain the electrical systems and weaponry of the AH-64 Apache helicopter, including the advanced targeting system, 70mm rockets, and laser-guided Hellfire missiles. You will learn to repair and maintain armament, electrical, and avionics systems and components through training and hands-on practice.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair armament, electrical, and avionics systems and components.
  • Perform maintenance, modifications, and alignment on weapons components, fire control units, and sighting elements.
  • Conduct operational and preventive checks on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics, and controlled cryptographic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment wiring harnesses.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain documentation and maintenance records for weapons and subsystems.

Training

Job training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you’ll learn basic Soldiering skills, followed by 24 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in repairing electrical systems. Training is split between classroom instruction and fieldwork.

You will earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance while training.

Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
  • Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
