About the School

Community of Peace Academy is an urban public charter school located on the East Side of Saint Paul, Minnesota, serving approximately 825 students in grades PreK to 12. The 2026-2027 school year will mark our 32nd year. The academy fosters academic excellence and character development through the education of the whole person—mind, body, and will. Driven by peace, relationships, and academic excellence, CPA strives to create an educated, empowered, and ethical community, both within the school and the broader society.

Responsibilities

• Teach 12th grade Language Arts.
• Teach one elective class per semester.
• Serve as the Advisory/Ethics Teacher for a cohort of 12th grade students.

Requirements

• Hold a Minnesota Teaching license in English/Language Arts.
• Strong understanding of the Minnesota Academic Standards.
• Ability to develop rapport with learners of diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated commitment to helping all students attain high academic and ethical standards of performance.

Professional Development & Support

• Developmental Designs (DD) is implemented across grades 7-12; all teachers are trained in DD1.
• Training opportunities for new staff are available during summer months and throughout the school year.
• Internal coaching and support provided for implementing DD practices.
• Weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and structured common planning time.
• Frequent observation and coaching for professional growth.
• All new teachers are paired with a Mentor for additional support.
