12T Technical Engineer
About the role
Technical Engineers in the Army National Guard develop the skills necessary to assist in building, planning, and repairing various infrastructure projects. Their responsibilities include construction site development through tasks such as technical investigation, surveying, drafting, and creating construction plans and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Construction material testing
- Draw topographic maps and charts using Computer Aided Drafting systems and software
- Conduct geodetic and construction surveys and results utilizing Automated Integrated Survey Instruments and Global Positioning Survey Technology
- Provide technical support for vertical and horizontal construction projects
Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- At least a junior in high school or hold a high school diploma/GED certificate
- Between the ages of 17 and 35
- Able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

Qualifications
Helpful skills include ability to convert ideas into drawings, interest in maps and charts, working with Computer Aided Drafting technology, and knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Pay
Non-prior service candidates will earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
Schedule
Training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training and 17 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, which includes both classroom and field components.
