About the role

The GATE Store Food Service Associate ensures customer service is the first priority by providing a friendly and efficient experience for guests. This role involves routine food preparation, customer assistance, and collaboration with the Store Kitchen Manager and Store Manager to control store operations and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with finding products and provide product information.
• Prepare made-to-order food items according to the set menu, following standard recipes and portion guidelines.
• Accommodate customer requests for menu customizations while maintaining food quality and consistency.
• Operate food production equipment and perform minor maintenance and repairs on store equipment.
• Stock coolers and shelves, ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients to minimize waste.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization, including sanitizing surfaces, cleaning restrooms, floors, and storage rooms, and following hygiene protocols.
• Operate the register to process cash and credit card payments, ensuring a friendly and efficient checkout experience.
• Follow all food safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control.
• Greet customers, assist with questions about products or services, and address inquiries or complaints.
• Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, communicating accurately and positively with customers and staff.
• Attend required training, safety courses, and departmental meetings.
• Assist in training new and existing team members on food preparation, customer service, and kitchen safety procedures.
• Perform additional tasks as requested by the Kitchen and Store Managers.

Requirements

• Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements over long periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds, and bend, kneel, stoop, and reach (including overhead).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment with exposure to heat, cold, and various kitchen equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Maintain or obtain Food Safety Certification.
• Follow GATE standards for uniform and appearance, including clean and well-maintained attire and hair.

Qualifications

• Basic mathematic knowledge and ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to gain product knowledge through training.
• Previous experience in a convenience store, restaurant, fast food, or related environment preferred.
• Knowledge of Food Safety.
