About the role

As an Army National Guard Indirect Fire Infantryman, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining mortars, performing scouting missions, and engaging in various combat scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, load, and fire three types of mortars
  • Operate, clean, and store automatic weapons
  • Employ, fire, and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines
  • Carry out scouting missions to spot enemy troops and gun locations
  • Perform challenging activities such as parachuting from a troop transport plane
  • Locate and neutralize enemy mines
  • Supervise and train other Soldiers
  • Lead and control mortar squads
  • Provide tactical and technical guidance to subordinates
  • Serve as a supervisor and trainer
  • Direct Soldiers in offensive and defensive operations
  • Request, observe, and adjust indirect supporting fire

Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • At least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

Pay

Actual pay range is between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.

Schedule

Training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training and 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT).
