Responsibilities

  • Advocate and support adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can.
  • Assist with household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and other personal care tasks.
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments, banking, community outings, and other engagements.
  • Administer medications, follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and adhere to medical guidelines.
  • Assist in safely evacuating individuals from the home in the event of an emergency.
  • Handle job-related duties in compliance with Agency policies and follow all DDS regulations/policies.

Requirements

  • 18+ years of age with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in fluent English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported, which may include holidays, overnights, or double-shifts.
  • Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives.
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team.

Qualifications

  • Varied interests and personal connections in the local community.

Training and Certifications

  • Paid New Employee Orientation.
  • Paid CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) certifications.
  • Program and person-specific training provided at the individuals’ home.
  • Must maintain certifications and follow all training requirements.

Pay

  • Pay rate: $19.50–$21.00 per hour.
  • Sign-on bonus: $500 for part-time employees.

Schedule

  • Part-time: 20 hours per week.
  • Fridays 11:00 PM–9:00 AM.
  • Saturdays 11:00 PM–9:00 AM.
