About the role
The CBO Insurance Sr. Specialist resolves complex accounts, serves as a subject-matter resource, coaches team members on account-resolution workflows, and assists the supervisor with team management. The role ensures the accuracy and completeness of patient financial, insurance, and demographic information to produce compliant claims. The Sr. Specialist works independently on complex diagnostic accounts, identifies performance-improvement opportunities (e.g., workflow, education, process, patient satisfaction), performs quality validations, and provides continuous education and feedback to a multi-disciplinary team to manage the cost of care and deliver timely, accurate information to payers.
Responsibilities
- Resolve complex accounts and act as a subject-matter expert for the functional area.
- Coach team members on account-resolution workflows and assist the supervisor with team management.
- Confirm accuracy and completeness of patient financial, insurance, and demographic information to ensure compliant claims are sent to payers.
- Work independently to resolve complex diagnostic accounts.
- Identify areas where performance improvement is needed (e.g., day-to-day workflow, education, process improvements, patient satisfaction).
- Perform quality validations of information and provide continuous education and feedback to a multi-disciplinary team.
- Manage the cost of care and provide timely, accurate information to payers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience in revenue cycle/CBO required.
- Extensive revenue cycle process improvement experience required.
- Prior experience in a healthcare revenue cycle position required.
Qualifications
- Billing/coding certificate preferred.
- College coursework in accounting, business, or healthcare administration preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft suite products preferred.
